This course is mainly designed to arouse the interest of linguistic students in the field of computational linguistics, the class will cover a wide range of material, but not in depth (though in some cases we will try to drill down to give a more in depth view of particular problems). The linguistic levels covered are morphology, syntax and semantics. Some of the techniques introduced in the class will be applied in actual programming exercises, using the Python programming language. The course is oriented towards graduate students of linguistics, previous programming experience in Python and linguistic background knowledge is required. In addition, basic Chinese knowledge is preferred.
